One of the questions we're asked most often is:
"What would a typical day look like at Jungle Flowers?"
While every day brings its own discoveries, our days are guided by a gentle rhythm rather than a rigid schedule. At Jungle Flowers Preschool we believe children thrive when they know what to expect, while still having the freedom to explore, imagine, and grow. Imagine arriving on a peaceful Florida morning. The sun is beginning to warm the garden, birds can be heard singing nearby, and the scent of fresh herbs drifts through the air. Children arrive one, by one, greeted with warm smiles and familiar faces. There is no rush, just a gentle beginning that helps each child feel welcomed and secure. As everyone settles in, we gather together for our morning circle. Songs, movement, poetry, and seasonal verses help children transition into the day while building community and a sense of belonging. Each season brings its own stories, songs and celebrations, allowing children to connect with the rhythms of nature throughout the year.
After circle time, the morning opens into exploration. Children may choose to build with wooden blocks, create artwork with natural materials, care for dolls, discover treasures from nature, or invent imaginative games with friends. Rather than directing every moment, we thoughtfully prepare an environment where curiosity leads the way and every experience
has a purpose.
The outside world becomes our classroom. Children dig in the garden, water flowers, observe butterflies, watch birds, collect leaves, and delight in the changing seasons. At Jungle Flowers Preschool, we believe some of childhoods greatest lessons happen beneath the open sky, where children learn to care for the living world around them. Throughout the day, practical life becomes part of learning.
Practical life continues into our kitchen and garden, where children help bake fresh bread, prepare nourishing meals, wash vegetables harvested from the garden, fold cloth napkins, set the table, and sweep together after meals. These meaningful, everyday experiences build confidence, independence, responsibility, and pride in contributing to their community. Meals are shared together around the table becoming a time for conversation, gratitude, and connection. At Jungle Flowers Preschool, we believe food is more than nourishment, it is an opportunity to slow down, work together and create lasting memories in a calm, welcoming atmosphere.
As the day continues, quiet moments become just as important as the active ones. Storytelling invites children into worlds filled with imagination and wonder. Beautiful picture nooks, seasonal tales, and meaningful conversations nurture language, listening skills, and a lifelong love of reading. There is also time for rest.
Whether a child naps, quietly looks through books, or simply enjoys peaceful reflection, we believe every child benefits from moments of stillness during the day.
Before families arrive, we gather once more for a gentle closing circle. Together we may sing a goodbye song, share a favorite discovery for the day, or reflect on the moments that brought us joy. Before heading home, we often take one last walk beneath the trees, giving children time to soak in the beauty around them and say goodbye to the garden until tomorrow. Children leave carrying not only the artwork they've created or vegetables they've helped grow, but also memories of meaningful experiences shared with friends. At Jungle Flowers Preschool, we believe childhood doesn't need to be hurried. It deserves time to imagine, time to explore, time to create, time to wonder. Every day is thoughtfully designed to help children feel connected to themselves, to one another, and to the beautiful natural world that surrounds them.
